Landowners across the Northern Sound region are being called on to maintain their hedgerows as the hedge cutting season begins today.
They are being asked to ensure that hedge cutting is carried out along public roads to ensure that roadside hedges and trees do not present as hazardous for road users.
Hedge cutting is permitted over a six month period from the 1st of September to the last day of February.
It is illegal to cut hedges between 1 March and 31 August except in the case of a road safety issue then exemptions do apply to the rule.
