A Cavan centre for adults with disabilities has been found compliant across 13 sections of the Health Act.
HIQA carried out an unannounced inspection at Corlurgan Community Home on the 23rd of March.
This is a service that provides 24 hour care and support to four adults with disabilities.
The house is in a rural setting approximately three kilometres from Cavan town centre.
The house comprises of a bungalow with an entrance hall, a sitting room, and a kitchen cum dining room.
Each resident has their own individual bedroom.
The service is managed by a full-time person in charge who is a qualified nursing professional, they are supported in their role by a team of staff nurses and healthcare assistants.
The house is staffed on a 24/7 basis.
Overall the inspector noted that this was a well-run centre where safe and good quality care was being delivered to the residents by a professional, knowledgeable and competent staff team.
All regulations reviewed were found to be compliant on the day of inspection.
The inspector found throughout the inspection that residents appeared well cared for, happy, relaxed, comfortable and content.
The residents were supported by a staff team who were very familiar with their care and support needs and who were motivated to ensure that each resident was encouraged and facilitated to participate in activities that were meaningful and purposeful to them.
