A parish priest based in Co Louth says two attacks on the local parochial house there isn't representative of the people in the area.
The community in Ravensdale in north Louth are reported to be in shock after petrol bombs were thrown at the parochial house on Sunday night. Parish Priest Fr Stephen Duffy, said that while there was two incidents over the weekend, it's an isolated occurrence.
Walls of the house were painted with highly offensive graffiti in the early hours of Saturday morning following by what he has described as a fireball on Sunday night just before 10pm. Fr Duffy said that Sunday's incident caused fire and smoke to billow, with fire crews and Gardai in attendance. He praised the emergency services for their speedy response.
He also paid thanks and his gratitude to people within the community and further afield that have reached out to him following the attacks on his home.
Meanwhile in a statement from Gardai, they say they received a report of an incident of criminal damage that occurred at a property in Ravensdale, Co. Louth on Saturday at approximately 3am. While, Gardaí attended the scene of an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at the same property in Ravensdale on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 10pm. Gardaí have carried out a technical examination of the scene and investigations are ongoing.
