Two catch-up HPV vaccine clinics will be held in Cavan and Monaghan in the coming days.
Clinics will be held on Friday, the 28th of April at the Youthreach Centre in Cavan - for students only - from 9am to 11:30am; and at the Connolly Street Primary Care Centre, from 12:30pm to 3pm.
The vaccine will also be made available on Friday, May the 26th at the North Monaghan Primary Care Centre in Rooskey from 1:30pm to 3;30pm; and in the Castleblayney Youthreach Centre for students only, from 9am to 12:30pm.
Clinics will offer the catch up vaccine free of charge until December 2023. Meanwhile, the programme is aimed at those aged 16 or older who did not get their HPV vaccine yet and were previously eligible.
The National Immunisation Advisory Committee has recently advised that only one dose of HPV vaccine is required in those aged under 25. Most people will only need one dose of HPV vaccine.
However, anyone with a weak immune system will require three doses. Over 500,000 people have already received the HPV vaccine through the HSE's school vaccination programme.
