A Ukrainian community leader living in Cavan says it was a huge honour to meet with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Ukraine's President was on an official visit to Ireland yesterday.
Sergiy Balan, chairperson of the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland met President Zelensky alongside other Ukrainian community leaders from throughout Ireland.
There are now some 84,000 Ukrainians living here.
Sergiy told the Joe Finnegan Show this morning that the Ukrainian President paid tribute to the Irish people for the solidarity shown and he also paid tribute towards the Ukrainian people who have made Ireland their home prior to the war.
Mr Balan said Mr Zelensky said the Ukrainian community living in Ireland had done so much for other Ukrainians that had to flee to Ireland and he thanked them for all they have and continue to do.
Sergiy has lived in Cavan for 23 years and he says it was wonderful to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wide in Dublin yesterday.
