The review stated that it is "prudent for a comprehensive monitoring programme to remain in place".

An independent review has found the Carrickmacross to Kingscourt Road in Co. Monaghan is safe to use despite a major subsidence incident in the area in 2018.

A sinkhole opened up at the Drumgossatt mine in 2018, and the R179 Carrickmacross to Kingscourt Road was closed as a result.

The Magheracloone GAA grounds were also demolished after the subsidence and Gyproc has committed to replacing the facilities.

The independent review was carried out by Wardell Armstrong International and follows reviews that were commissioned by Gyproc and the Department of the Enviroment, Climate and Communications.

These previous reviews also found the road to be stable.

The Wardell Armstrong review also states that "an acceptable monitoring scheme has been implemented by Gyproc since late 2018" and they "consider it prudent for a comprehensive monitoring programme to remain in place".
