Gardaí are investigating the theft of a vehicle that occurred in Cavan at 10:30pm last night.
A managed containment operation followed but the vehicle eventually struck a telephone pole in Cavan Town.
A man in his 50s was arrested and conveyed to Cavan Garda Station.

No injuries have been reported.
Meanwhile, investigations are continuing after Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a car fire at a service station on the Dublin Road, Cavan.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 29th January last at 11:20am.

The fire was subsequently extinguished and no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Gardai confirmed to Shannonside Northernsound that an investigation into the matter continues.
