The editor of the Anglo Celt Newspaper believes Ireland cannot afford to be anything other than neutral.
This week US President Donald Trump paused military aid to Ukraine. This led to EU leaders agreeing to a plan which could increase military spending by up to 800-billion euros. A decision was also made to allow for flexibility around spending rules and for existing European funds to be invested in defence. Closer to home, the Dáil passed draft legislation removing the need for UN approval to deploy Irish troops on peacekeeping missions.
