Irish Water has been given the go-ahead to erect solar panels at a Monaghan waste water treatment plant.
The utility had applied to build 347 metres squared of solar panels at its plant in Monaghan town.
They would be built over a grass area at the Tirkeenan site.
Monaghan County Council has approved the plans, subject to two conditions.
Among them is that Irish Water cannot sell any electricity generated at the site to the national grid without approval of the Council.
