The CSO has released the top Irish Baby Names for 2023.
Jack is the most popular boys' name for the seventh year in a row. Grace was the most popular girls' name in 2023, followed by Fiadh, Emily, Sophie and Lily.

There were just over 54,373 births registered last year which is a fall of 5.5% in comparison with registrations in 2022.
Jack has been in the top spot for 17 years since 2007 bar 2016 when James was number 1. Jack the most popular name for baby boys for seven years in a row. Jack and James have been in the top five boys’ names for 25 years (since 1998). This is the first time Oisín has made it to the top 5 names.
More variation when it comes to top names for girls. Grace is back in pole position when it comes to most popular girls’ name. Grace, Emily and Fiadh have been swapping bronze, silver and gold since 2019. These names consistently in the top three since then. Grace has been the first or second choice for girls’ names since 2018 Fiadh the first to move it off the top spot in 2021, and Emily in 2022.
In 2023 there were 561 babies born called Jack, while there were 339 newborn baby girls called Grace. Race for top spot is much closer for girls. Difference of 88 between Jack and Noah, while only 39 between Grace and Fiadh. 104 more babies was the difference between 2nd and 3rd for boys, while it was only 3 for girls.
