The highest amount of rain recorded in one July day this year was at the Dunsany station, in Co Meath.

Last month is set to be named the wettest July on record in Ireland. Met Eireann has released provisional rainfall data for the past few weeks. This perhaps won't come as much of a shock to anyone who spent time outdoors last month - but it looks like it'll be soon named the wettest July on record.

It had four times more rainfall recorded than the same month last year, and twice as much as 2021. The previous wettest July on record was 2009, which was not far behind this year in terms of long-term average rainfall recorded.

Met Eireann's data shows the highest amount of rain recorded in one July day this year was at the Dunsany station, in Co Meath, on the 22nd of July. That was closely followed by the Oak Park station in Carlow on the 10th of the month.

12 stations had their wettest July on record - with a station in Dublin breaking an 82-year-old record. Another station at Shannon Airport broke a record that had stood for 77 years.
