The new appliance was manufactured by Sídheán Teo, with a chassis from Westward Scania Strokestown.

Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council John Paul Feeley said it was a "privilege" to hand over the keys of a new fire engine at Kingscourt Fire Station yesterday.

The cost for the new fire tender was €450,000 for which Cavan County Council received funding from the Department of Local Government.

According to Cllr John Paul Feeley, it's "very important" for the people who we are put in harm's way as a result of their work to have the proper equipment to do the work that they need to.
