Labour will introduce a motion to improve healthcare for trans people today.
The party says since the Gender Recognition Act was brought in a decade ago, not much has changed for the people involved.
It wants to see a GP led model, focused on getting trans people care in their local community rather than having to apply to the National Gender Service.
Health Spokesperson Marie Sherlock says the current system is too slow at a critical time:
She said: "We have a four and a half year waiting list for the National Gender Service.
"The reality is, that so many trans people suffer much higher levels of stigma, of marginalisation, suicidal ideation.
"We need to make sure that there is timely access to healthcare for these persons," she added.
