The venue had been booked for the football final on the 16th of March.

The Ladies Senior Championship Final between Armagh and Donegal which is taking place on Sunday has been moved from St Tiernach's Park in Clones to Owenbeg in Co Derry.  Sinead Reel, Armagh Ladies football chairperson, told the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, that despite the venue being booked for the game back in March, Armagh Ladies GFC was informed of the decision on Thursday.

She says it was done to accommodate a senior club final and pointed out that the wrong decision was taken because Clones is where big senior championship games take place. Sinead highlighted that players have no issues with the Co Derry venue, but as far as they are concerned, "Clones is the home of Ulster GAA".

She added the move does not reflect well on those involved in the decision making process. "The girls that are involved at the weekend from both counties have had the opportunity to play in Clones before. We were very lucky, we played Cavan in a warm-up game before the men played in their Ulster Final.

"That was a massive opportunity for us to showcase these female players who are at the pinnacle of the sport and showcase ladies football in general. Now, we are going from the highs of playing in Clones -  literally in the semi-final two weeks ago - to being told the venue is not available because there is a senior club game taking place on that particular day, when it had been booked from the 16th of March," said Sinead.
