A last ditch effort will be made by the Northern Ireland Secretary to break the deadlock at Stormont today.

The Northern Ireland Secretary will hold talks with the North's party leaders following his failure to call a fresh assembly election on Friday.

Chris Heaton-Harris is legally obliged to call one after Stormont politicians again failed to form an executive six months on from May's assembly election.

The DUP is refusing to re-enter power sharing over its objection to the Northern Ireland Protocol.
