Learner drivers face test backlog across Cavan and Monaghan

It is believed that the backlog is due to the Covid pandemic.

Learner drivers are facing waiting times of up to seven months to sit their tests.

It's 31 weeks in Killester in Dublin, and 25 in Drogheda in Co Louth.

However, some rural areas have short waiting times of three or four weeks.

Locally, there is a waiting time of between 8 and 10 weeks across Cavan and Monaghan.

While nearly 46,500 learner-drivers are on waiting lists nationwide, Dublin driving instructor Ian Daly, from automatic-lessons dot.ie, says some people benefit from that:
