Monaghan County Council is awaiting approval to appoint contractors for the second phase of works to the Monaghan Town Greenway.
Last week, a section of the greenway from the Coolshannagh Roundabout to Old Cross Square re-opened after being closed for upgrade works.
In a statement to Northern Sound, the Local Authority says the second phase of works, from the Glen Road to the Threemilehouse Road, will be similar to what was carried out during the first phase.

This will include drainage upgrades, lighting, fencing, resurfacing and lining the 2.5 kilometre stretch of the greenway.
A spokesperson from the Council said it is waiting on NTA approval to appoint contractors.
