Figures on the number of bed contracts for Ukrainian refugees in the Northern Sound region have been revealed.
This information was given in response to a parliamentary question put forward by Joe Cooney.
In Cavan, the number of contracts fell from 19, providing 687 beds in February 2025, to 13 contracts and 221 beds in February 2026.
In Monaghan, contracts remained at six, but bed capacity dropped from 250 to 115 over the same period.
In his response, The Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Colm Brophy, noted it is important to recognise that, the department is moving toward a reduction and eventual elimination of this accommodation situation.
