A Monaghan councillor has called for the inclusion of teachers on the newly established review committee for national bullying policy.
Cllr Seamus Coyle said that teachers were at the coalface of the matter and it was absolutely imperative that their input was included in the review process.
The local area representative in the Ballybay-Clones MD said bullying is such a "serious issue" that those who stand idly by and say nothing "are as much participants as the bullies themselves".
He also said that the role of the education sector in the matter could never be overstated.
