Calls have been made for a grant to help all householders in Cavan with the cost of repairs to their septic tanks.
Cllr Winston Bennett raised the issue at the most recent sitting of Cavan County Council.
He said that where repair works are needed, a grant should be offered to assist and promote people to do the right thing. The local councillor said that this would also hep our water quality across County Cavan and help farmers when it comes to nitrates derogation.
Cllr Bennett said there isn't enough help out there to levitate the costs associated with septic tank issues and even though there are grants available they should be available for anyone that wants to carry out the necessary works. He said if the issue is in Cavan, it's in Clare, Cork and across the country.
