A local cat sanctuary is urging people to be considerate of animals as Halloween approaches. This appeal comes following an incident at the Kitten Cottage

A local cat sanctuary is urging people to be considerate of animals as Halloween approaches.

This appeal comes following an incident at the Kitten Cottage in Virginia this week, when a firework was thrown onto the premises, going off and terrifying many of the animals in their care.

Andrew Egan whose family have run the sanctuary for over 16 years, says every year they take in injured and abused animals following the celebrations around Halloween.

He says it is the worst month of the year for people in their line of work and he is asking that people think about their actions first.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound he had this plea for the public:
