A local childcare provider says she is "fearful" of changes to contact tracing for children under 12 and isn't fully comfortable with the move.

However, Paula Donohoe, owner of Clever Clogs Childcare in Ballyconnell, adds that she welcomes the clarity and understands the need for balance.

Primary school children and those in crèches won't have to restrict their movements from next Monday, if they're close contacts and have no symptoms.

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, says it's the right time to change the approach given the importance of education.

Paula told this morning's Joe Finnegan Show that asymptomatic children can spread the virus and more caution is needed because children under 12 can't be vaccinated:
