A woman living in Cavan is raising concern around dogs worrying livestock.
This follows calls for tougher enforcement as lambing season is due to get underway.
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon, has urged dog owners to act responsibly around livestock, particularly sheep.
Sandra Coote, a sheep farmer in Virginia in says attacks by uncontrolled dogs are adding stress at a critical time, with lambing due to begin on her farm next week.
She says that more need to be done to take responsibility for dogs.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show Sandra said the fine is not always a useful deterrent especially if a dog is not microchipped.
