A Monaghan County Councillor has called on the council to write to the Minister of state in with responsibility to the OPW, Kevin "Boxer" Moran.
Pauric Clerkin raised the issue at the recent full council meeting in relation to concern about home insurance policies in Co Monaghan.
Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) maps are used by insurance companies in determining flood risk.
Cllr Clerkin says this is resulting in the refusal of home insurance policies for some residents in Co Monaghan.
The motion was seconded by Cllr Alan Johnston, and received full agreement from the council.
Speaking to Northern Sound he explained that a number of families in North Monaghan are concerned.
