Grant aid of €9,600 was received from the Department of Health for the funding of a Period Poverty initiative by Monaghan County Council.
Under a pilot scheme Monaghan COCO obtained sanitary hygiene dispenser units and products from Secco Hygiene Supplies to be provided within public buildings around Co Monaghan.
Five Monaghan County Council buildings and four community organisation buildings are participating in this initiative. A further two community organisations have also agreed to participate in the scheme.
The uptake and engagement received from Monaghan County Council staff and community organisations in this initiative has been positive. Alternative dispensers and products are to be sourced following feedback from participants.
There is also a call to seek more of Monaghan County Council's buildings to participate in the initiative along with suitable community organisations, including youth groups. Foroige have also agreed to disperse products to their members.
