A Cavan councillor is calling for a change to the current hedge cutting restrictions.
Currently hedge cutting is prohibited between March1st and August 31st under Section 40 of the Wildlife Act 1976.
Fine Gael's Winston Bennett believes the date should be brought forward to August 1st.

Last month, the Irish Road Haulage Association said a lack of hedgerow management on rural roads is leading to a significant number of road traffic incidents.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr. Bennett said it's an issue of safety.
