A local councillor has highlighted Cavan NCT failure rates.
Cllr Carmel Brady says she has received a number of complaints from people who say even after getting repair works carried out in a garage they are still failing on the same issues that have been repaired.
She says people were also irate over failing on minor issues like having a tyre pressure light on this vehicle.
Cllr Brady says that one mechanic told her that any vehicles pre 2014 can have this sensor light showing and won't fail but any car registered from 2015 onwards will fail.
Cllr Brady says some garage operators believe that there is a financial bracket attached to NCT centres on failure percentages and she believes this needs to be monitored.
The Fine Gael councillor highlighted this issue at the most recent sitting of Cavan County Council and a letter has now been sent to the Department of Transport and the RSA in relation to this matter.
