The Operations Director of an Irish diagnostic services provider says rapid testing will become commonplace over the coming months in an effort to open up society.

Monaghan native Ian Morgan, of Xpress Health, also says rapid testing is an important element in increasing test capacity.

Mr Morgan told Shannonside Northern Sound that rapid testing will be deployed in workplaces, nursing homes and educational settings once a week, with results available within 15 to 30 minutes.

While the commonly-used PCR test is the "gold standard", Ian says the global supply is running out and rapid testing will address this:
