Cavan and Monaghan Gardaí are warning people about the latest financial scam that's doing the round locally. A Garda member received an automated call purporting to be from the online bank, Revolut.
The automated message stated it had put a hold on a payment of €79 for an online purchase and requested that if the person on the other end of the phone didn't authorise this payment to press 1 to speak to an agent or 'hang up'.
Gardaí are advising people to hang up despite the fraudster's efforts to engage. Local Gardaí say this is yet another attempt by scammers to illicit personal information from the public.
