New legislation to allow for the resumption of indoor dining comes amid a NPHET warning about the Delta variant.

A local Green Party rep has backed government plans for the re-opening of indoor dining but says the authorities need to be mindful of the Delta variant.

New legislation that would allow fully vaccinated people or those who've recovered from Covid to dine indoors will go before the Seanad later today.

However, it comes amid a NPHET warning that the country is still three or four weeks away from the peak of the Delta wave.

While Tate Donnelly acknowledges that the plans are "discriminatory", he told this morning's Joe Finnegan Show that it's the "safest way" to allow for a "timely" return to indoor dining:
