Local man grateful for the support of community

Thomas Doonan from Bawnboy was diagnosed with motor neuron disease in 2020

A local man says it's the local people who keep him going, as he outlined the support he's gotten from his community.

Thomas Doonan from Bawnboy was diagnosed with motor neuron disease in 2020.

He explained the impact the disease has had on him, describing losing the use of parts of his body until he ended up in a wheelchair.

Despite this, Thomas praised his family and local community who supported a fundraisers for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease.

He noted that between different things they have raised between 60,000 and 100,000 for the group.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Thomas outlined his philosophy, and what keeps him going.
