Business leaders and trade unions were given an update on how US tariffs are likely to impact Ireland.
Tánaiste Simon Harris convened a meeting of the Government Trade Forum today to map out Ireland’s response to the deal.
The forum's members included government departments, business groups and trade unions. US President Donald Trumps tariffs on nearly all US trading partners, including the European Union, will not come into effect until a week later than originally planned.
President Trump has signed an executive order meaning the new tariffs will come in on August 7th.
Local Minister Niamh Smyth was at that meeting that was held in Government buildings. The Cavan Monaghan TD says it is still too early to really know how tariffs will effect Ireland.
