People across the Northern Sound region are being encouraged to send photos of their "treasured hugs" for a special Culture Night display.

Culture Night is this Friday and Cavan sculptor Marie Smith will be in Cootehill Library showcasing her famous sculpture "The Hug", which was made during the first covid lockdown last year.

It was inspired by the loss of contact people felt during the pandemic, and features two people "sharing a heartfelt hug".

Marie will demonstrate how the artwork was made and discuss her inspiration for the sculpture.

She's also asking people to send photos of "treasured hugs", which will be turned into a video that will be displayed at Cootehill Library on Friday night.

The images can be sent by email to [email protected].
