The average price of home heating oil in Cavan is currently the highest in the country.
According to oilprices.ie, the cost of 500 litres in Cavan stands at €944.50 on average.
The online price comparison website shows Monaghan is also among the highest on average costing €929.50 for the same fill of 500 litres of home heating oil.
Last week the average cost in Cavan was €608.53, while in Monaghan the same amount of oil was €603.23
Cavan has seen an average rise of 48.61% since this month began, while Monaghan has seen a similar rise 47.85%.
Overall, home heating oil here has risen at eight times the rate of the rest of the European Union.
In Ireland, prices increased by 27 point 3 per cent between February 23rd and March 2nd, while there was a 3 point 3 per cent rise everywhere else.
Prices rose here from 96 cent a litre to 1 euro 23 cent a litre here in that time.
For a thousand litres of oil, it'll cost 1 thousand 783 euro, compared to over 900 euro last week.
