A local publican says he is 'working for pennies.'
It comes as the Vintners Federation of Ireland is calling for a 40% rebate on the excise charged to draught products sold in pubs.
It says the rebate would help protect and 'save our rural pubs.'
Ireland has the second-highest excise rate on alcohol in Europe, with taxes making up 30% of the total cost of a pint.
The VFI says the tax is putting pressure on rural publicans, who are seeing a growing change in the way people socialise.
