A Cavan journalist has raised the question of handover in Tusla cases.
Linda O'Reilly, editor of the Anglo Celt, was speaking in reaction to the Daniel Aruebose.
Partial skeletal remains, that are believed to be those of Daniel Aruebose, were discovered and removed from the scene in North Dublin this week.
Gardaí had been searching the site for over two weeks after they were told the child was secretly buried there.
A post-mortem examination will now be conducted to establish the cause of death, which may take some time.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Linda wants to understand how this happened.
"I've heard a lot of people saying, where were this child's aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, teachers, neighbours? Why were questions not being asked about where he was? Perhaps they thought he'd gone back into care, I don't know. There are a lot of good social workers working in organisations like Tusla, but they tend to move on into other roles. Perhaps the handover is not there because it absolutely blows my mind that this young, beautiful child was in care and there were zero, apparently, follow up checks as to his welfare when he went back to his family."
