The chef-proprietor of a local restaurant and gastropub says calling for last orders at 6.30 will make it very difficult for the hospitality sector.

From today, pubs, restaurants, and live events have to shut at 8 pm in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

The measures will stay in place until the end of January.

Gearoid Lynch owns the newly opened Duck Inn Gastropub at the Imperial Bar and the Old Post Inn in Cloverhill, and told Shannonside Northern Sound that more supports are required to ensure businesses can hold on to staff:
