Local Senator Robbie Gallagher has said that the trend of dogs attacking livestock and sheep is "only going up".
Senator Gallagher raised the issue in the Seanad this week.
He noted that lambing season is approaching, and dog owners should be aware of the impact that dogs can have on lambs and sheep.
Senator Gallagher said there is a "huge responsibility on dog owners" and called on them to be aware of where their dog is at all times.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he explained the impact that dog attacks can have on family farms.
