A local man is encouraging students in the Northern Sound region to attend Gaeltacht courses this summer.
Noel Flood worked from Muineacháin le Gaeilge for 3 years, before taking up a translating role in Europe.
He said that he has watched the growth of the language grow in the county since then.
Noel noted that youth clubs for youth clubs and facilities through Irish are available in Monaghan, and there is a high demand for their services.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he said that there is a strong link between students in Co. Monaghan and Co. Monaghan and trips to the Gaeltacht in the summer.
He believes that trips to the Gaeltacht are of great cultural significance.
Noel said: "The people of the Gaeltacht, their culture and heritage is intertwined with our own- people from rural Ireland. That was something that clicked for me. Only for a language barrier, which isn't a hard barrier to cross.
"Sometimes when people think of the Gaeltacht region they think of a completely different group or cohort of people, they're very much part of our own heritage," he added.
