Local TD Cathy Bennett has raised the issue of the Dublin Monaghan bombings with Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
The Sinn Fein TD for Cavan and Monaghan called on Mr Harris to release documentation that the Gardai have on the deadly atrocity that occurred over 51 years ago.
Speaking to Northern Sound today, Deputy Bennett says it unacceptable that, over five decades later, the families are still waiting for accountability. The darkest day of all during the Troubles was 17 May 1974, with the murder of 34 innocent people in Monaghan and Dublin and injuries caused to more than 300 people.
The Sinn Fein Representative highlighted the issue with the Garda Commissioner at a public accounts meeting in the Dail yesterday. Deputy Bennett said these documents need to be released to the Denton report and she would continue to call for them to be released.
