The Oireachtas Media Committee is to invite the Board of RTE to appear before it in September. Members met today to discuss the next steps, following the publication of the Grant Thornton report.
In addition to the Board, RTE's Director General Kevin Bakhurst will be asked to attend. Chair of the Committee, Deputy Niamh Smyth, outlines why it's important for the board to answer questions. "This is giving them an opportunity to discuss in a very frank and open way the Grant Thornton part 2," she continued.
"It also provides an opportunity, as we see it anyway, to demonstrate to the public how things have changed and how the working relationship with the executive leadership team is now a good one, an open one and a transparent one.
