A significant number of toys end up in landfills, something the Toy Library prevents.

A Co Monaghan Toy Library is one of 34 social enterprises nationwide to benefit from €1,240 in Rethink Ireland funding.

Rethink Ireland supports innovative, non-profit organisations and awarded the funding to Carrickmacross Toy Library out of a €400,000 fund that is being shared between the other successful organisations.

A significant proportion of toys can't easily be recycled, and many end up in landfills.

Carrickmacross Toy Library tackles toy waste by operating like a regular library, in providing families and caregivers of children up to six with access to high-quality, durable toys that are sustainably sourced.

Monaghan County Council's Chief Executive, Eamon O'Sullivan, said "organisations like The Carrickmacross Toy Library lead the charge by not only creating jobs but working towards bringing about positive social change."
