A local UCD student says the move to online learning has affected the mental wellbeing of students.

Over 70% of college students want more on-campus learning, according to a survey by the Irish Universities Association.

The IUA appeared before an Oireachtas Education Committee today to highlight the ‘heavy toll' online learning has had on students' mental health.

Lee Saunders, a 3rd-year UCD financial maths student from Monaghan, hasn’t been on-campus since March.

While she is saving a lot of money in rent, Lee says it is difficult to be away from her university friends.

Lee told Shannonside Northern Sound that students are looking forward to returning to campus life.
