"Childcare is a fundamental gender equality workers rights issue." That's according to Monaghan woman Rachel Coyle is Head of Campaigns and Mobilisation with National Women's Council.
Unions, civil society organisations and providers held a lunchtime protest yesterday over the provision of childcare. They want the Government to deliver on election promises in relation to public childcare.
Rachel Coyle says there are a range of issues that need to be addressed: "The average price per child across the country is enormous, waiting lists are spiralling and educators are burnt out and under paid." Yesterday marked Internationals Workers Day and Rachel believes that childcare is a fundamental gender equality workers rights issue.
