A Monaghan councillor is backing a call from a local youth climate group to make bins more vibrant in the county.

Colm Carthy says he received a letter from the local Youth Work Climate Change Group, asking him to look at the possibility of making bins more "vibrant and noticeable" to encourage people to avail of them.

The Castleblayney-based group has also asked the councillor to install recycling bins along the existing bins, to allow residents to recycle their waste more easily.

The Sinn Féin councillor told Shannonside Northern Sound that the installation of recycling bins would be a great addition to the county:
