Fine Gael's Madeline Argue has been elected Cathaoirleach of the Cavan-Belturbet MD.
She takes over from Independent Councillor Brendan Fay.
She was nominated to the position by Peter McVitty, and this was seconded by Patricia Walsh, who herself was elected vice chair.
Brendan Fay thanked his fellow colleagues but expressed regret that "little could be done due to Covid".
Madeline Argue said she looks forward to working with a positive group of Councillors who want to push the area forward.
