A local councillor has expressed his disappointment with Transport Minister, Eamon Ryan over the condition of roads across the region.
Cllr Shane P O'Reilly says he was amazed by Mr Ryan's comments at the Green Party conference over the weekend in relation to a 2 to 1ratio when it comes to public transport and road funding.
The Green Party leader said he will insist spending on public transport is twice that of funding for roads in government formation talks after the next general election. Cllr O'Reilly said this was all well and good for people living in built up areas and city centres but he believes the transport minister has been very short-sighted.
The Cavan Councillor says the Minister is detached from reality when it comes to rural counties like Cavan and Monaghan. The local independent councillor says Eamon Ryan has no emphasis on the rural road network.
