A 54-year-old man with a Co Cavan address charged with drug possession in Cavan last Thursday has been further remanded in custody.
Ormands Buza of Rock Court, Ballinagh was charged with possession of one kilo of cannabis valued at €20,000 at Rahardrum, Virginia, Co Cavan.
Detective Garda Keith Maguire gave evidence at Navan District Court last week of having stopped and searched the man's vehicle.
He had then arrested the accused. The detective said the accused was the owner of the vehicle but that he was accompanied by another person.
He added that the accused had no warrant interest and was cooperative at the scene of the arrest.
The man had been living in Ireland for the last eight years.
He appeared at Monaghan District court yesterday where Judge Raymond Finnegan remanded him in jail to appear at Cavan District Court on April 9th via video link to allow for DPP directions.
