A 32 year old man has appeared in court, charged with the murder of Donegal businessman

A 32 year old man has appeared in court, charged with the murder of Donegal businessman Stephen McCahill at his home in Ardara early Monday morning.

Michael Maloney of Loughross Point, Ardara, appeared last night before a special sitting of Letterkenny district court, where Judge Ciaran Liddy heard Detective Garda Patrick Kelly give evidence of arrest and caution.

Solicitor Mark Mullaney made an application for legal aid, telling the court his client had a psychiatric illness and is on medication.

The accused was remanded in custody, to appear before the court again via videolink on Monday next, January 12th.
