A man has been arrested in relation to the theft of telephone cables in Cavan, Monaghan, Louth and Meath.
In the six months to February, there were 66 incidents of cable theft nationwide, predominantly in the north-east of the country.
Gardai confirmed today that a man in his 30s has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.

He's being detained at a garda station in the North Western Region.
